About

Hey ya’ll and welcome! My name is “AL.”
I’m sure by now you’ve seen me in the vids, but I don’t necessarily tell you about myself much; so that what this page is all about.
My Lawn Care History (short version)
I started my first lawn business at the age of 14 mowing a few lawns down in St. Petersburg, Florida. My aim was to earn a little extra cash so I could take my girlfriend out to the movies.
Fast forward now to 2009 and currently I am the operations manager for a $7 million lawn business here in the Chicago area. I am not allowed to disclose the name of the company due to non-compete agreements, sorry. All I can tell you is that we take care of a lot of lawns here in the Midwest. I have not seen it all, but I bet I’ve seen most of what you see in your own home lawn! Non-compete agreements aside, I am allowed to give out free and good info to you guys and that’s what I do here.
Credentials?
Anyway, I hold professional licensing in both Indiana and Illinois, but none of that really means anything for this site because most of the stuff I talk about and recommend is available locally to DIYers or online. My philosophy is simple: you don’t need to buy professional, industrial grade lawn care products and tools in order to have nice grass. You can get great results with stuff you find in your own hometown on regular store shelves (if you know what to look for!). There are exceptions to this rule, of course, and I will point those out as we go along.
A Weak Disclosure
Lastly, and most importantly, if you screw up your lawn, you can’t blame me! I am just the guy in the videos — I am not a scape goat for your lack of common sense or stupidity or laziness, (Ha! Just kidding!)
The tips offered here are aimed at the Midwest (I hope you know if that is you) but the majority of them will work on lawns from Florida to Maine and most anywhere besides the desert. Some things are just standard practice, especially with grass.
If you would like to contact me, do so here. I do enjoy interacting with readers!
